The reason for my blog

For years I made one excuse after the other for not being able to write. I always had the desire to bring my experiences into a book format but being a busy corporate leader, you have every excuse possible to not take the time to write.

For years, I wasn’t even able to read a book not to mention follow a tv series without being interrupted by constant emails.

Thanks to covid-19, my temporary leave also called as furlough, I now find myself in the situation of having time, endless time without any pressure of attending conference calls, respond to emails or take phone calls. Time I was longing for so much in my 20+ years in hospitality.

You may think now, this is another blog of another guy who thinks he worked enough and wants and easy escape out of the hotel industry.

No that’s not me, I am happy and also know when the time is right my furlough will be over and I will go back to what I love so much, making sure all our guest have first class experiences.

For me for as long as I work, I live and operate with the motto:

“Quality is remembered, long after the price is forgotten”

So my stories should encourage young people in and outside the hotel industry to be patient, patient with what they do until they reach what they want to do. And also to guest and loyal members to understand the person you may be screaming at because your upgrade you didn’t pay for isn’t available because someone else is actually paying for the suite.

I didn’t not, and am glad I didn’t, fall into a corporate leader role from university; my stories will tell you how I got where I got, and what experiences I had to make in order to get there. And I will start off the right at the beginning. Don’t be surprised when I start off with Hot Dogs and Retirement homes

Also, don’t be surprised to not read about a check in of an elite guest, but about people using false identities, Russian spies, suicides and associates looking at mirrors before their shift to forget any personal issues they faced in the outside world.

The hotel industry is about being on stage, to be at your best to deliver the best at all times, no matter if you can hardly afford a bus ticket to be on time at work.

If you like my blog or not is for you to decide but for me it’s not only dealing with my past, and potentially with some demons; it’s about sharing my experiences to show them what it’s like in hotels once you gave your credit card details at check in.

Stay tuned; it shall soon begin!!
